The small village of Monastero is at the end of the “Via Sacra” road. On its big square you'll find a unique early-Christian museum. The premises of the museum are actually those of an early-Christian basilica renovated several times through the centuries.

Originally placed out of the town, it was property of a Benedictine monastery after which the small town has subsequently been named ("Monastero" means "monastery"). Some of the most interesting finds in the museum are the Christian grave inscriptions.
