Entering the cathedral there is a stone slab. In the past this slab covered the entrance to the basements where still today there are 20 small funerary rooms with mummified remains dating back to the 18th century.

The cathedral features the second highest bell tower in the whole Diocese of Gorizia, second only to the bell tower in Aquileia.
