According to an old legend the Virgin Mary and the Devil competed to arrive first on top of this hill: the winner would claim the territory. The Virgin Mary won and the Devil sank into a pit.

You can still see the signs of the Virgin Mary's passage through the woods toward the top of the hill: Her footprints and the imprints of Her donkey's hooves!
